About this collection

Jerseys

Vintage sports jerseys spanning NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, college and the oddball novelty crossovers. Champion-made NBA stitched, Mitchell & Ness throwbacks, Starter NFL and MLB, Reebok NFL replica and authentic, Nike NFL On Field, CCM and Koho NHL vintage, and the occasional Sand-Knit, Salem and Rawlings blank. 334 jerseys are on the rack right now, with the weight sitting in the 1990s golden era and the modern throwback revival. Every jersey is one of one. When it sells, we do not restock it.

What a real vintage jersey is, era by era

Sports jersey collecting is keyed to three questions. Who made it, when, and is it retail or team-issue. Those three answers anchor authentication and pricing. The eras most of this rack lives in:

  • 1980s Sand-Knit and Rawlings-era. Mesh-weight NBA and NFL retail jerseys on Sand-Knit and Rawlings tags. Small license hits. These are the earliest wave of consumer-grade team jerseys and run smaller than modern sizing.
  • Early-90s Champion NBA stitched. Champion held the NBA retail license from 1990 to 2002. The stitched-letter and stitched-number Champion NBA is the canonical 1990s Bulls, Sonics, Magic and Suns jersey. Sublimation printing showed up on budget lines, but the stitched versions are what the collector market targets.
  • Mid-90s Starter NBA and NFL. Starter ran NFL and a portion of NBA licensing through the mid and late 1990s. Starter NFL authentics with the stitched Starter star and woven NFL label are a specific submarket.
  • Late-90s and 2000s Reebok NFL. Reebok took the NFL on-field contract from 2002 to 2011. Reebok NFL authentic jerseys carry an On Field jock tag and a year date code. Replica Reebok NFL is a different tier.
  • 2000s and 2010s Nike NFL On Field. Nike took over NFL on-field from 2012 onward. Dri-Fit construction, On Field jock tag, year and size stamped inside.
  • Mitchell & Ness throwback era (mid-2000s onward). Mitchell & Ness officially licenses throwback jerseys across NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL. Throwbacks are legitimate and priced as their own tier; they are not originals and we state that on the PDP.
  • NHL CCM and Koho vintage. Center-ice and replica hockey sweaters from the late 80s through the early 2000s, before Adidas took the NHL license.
  • Crossover and novelty jerseys. The Disney, WWE, NASCAR and pop-culture-licensed jerseys that rode the late-90s and Y2K merch boom. Documented, priced accordingly.

Cultural markers worth knowing: Champion's NBA license ran 1990 to 2002 (Reebok took over from 2002 to 2006, then Adidas, then Nike in 2017). Starter's peak NFL and NBA window was roughly 1994 to 1999, after which the brand fractured. Mitchell & Ness as a throwback brand dates from 2000 forward; any "Mitchell & Ness" piece from before that is either the pre-throwback M&N athletic label (rare) or misattributed. NFL on-field sleeve patches changed with league contracts and help date authentic pieces year-by-year.

How to tell a real vintage jersey from a knockoff or reseller repair

Jersey counterfeits run deep, especially on the high-dollar Jordan, Kobe and Brady pieces. Anchor signals we use on the floor:

  • Tag stack and interior labeling. A genuine 1990s Champion NBA carries a Champion athletic tag, an NBA Authentics license tag, and a size tag. All three present and period-correct. A modern replica will carry fewer tags and often substitutes a printed size panel for a stitched tag.
  • Letters and numbers. Genuine period NBA stitched jerseys have two-layer tackle-twill numbers stitched through both the outer mesh and an interior backing layer. A knockoff with single-layer letters or with screen-printed numbers is not a stitched original. Bootleg jerseys also frequently get the font slightly wrong; an arc that is close but not quite the team's official font is a flag.
  • Jock tag and year code. Reebok NFL authentic jerseys carry a jock tag at the front lower hem stamped with year, size and the Reebok NFL On Field wordmark. Nike NFL On Field jock tags run a similar year and size stamp with Nike branding. Missing or mismatched jock tags are a flag.
  • Mesh weave and weight. 1990s Champion NBA mesh is heavier and coarser than modern mesh. A jersey that feels thin and polyester-slick for a purported 1994 piece is suspect.
  • Patch era vs player era. NFL and NBA jerseys carry season patches (Super Bowl anniversary, championship, memorial patches). A Jordan Bulls jersey with a 1997 Finals patch should have a 1997 Finals patch stitched (not printed) through the front. A player's jersey with a patch from a season that player was not on the roster is wrong.
  • Starter authentic vs replica. Starter NFL ran authentic (stitched, on-field-cut) and replica (screen-printed, retail-cut) lines. Both are genuine Starter; they are not the same product and they are priced differently. Authentic Starters carry specific inner labels and NFL Pro Line branding.
  • Mitchell & Ness hologram. Licensed M&N throwbacks carry a hologram sticker, a sewn label with the year of original release referenced, and a stitched (not printed) team crest. A missing hologram on a piece marketed as M&N is a flag.

The full guide, brand-by-brand and patch-by-patch, lives in the vintage jersey authentication guide.

How KIC sources and grades jerseys

Jerseys come in from estate buyouts, the walk-in counter, regional collector pickups in Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles and Chicago, and the occasional trade-in at a show. Every jersey gets a four-point intake: tag stack photographed, stitch method inspected (tackle-twill vs screen print vs sublimation), year and manufacturer cross-referenced to league contract periods, and fit measured chest-width and length shoulder-to-hem laid flat.

Jerseys are sold in the state they arrive: with tags (NWT), without tags but clean, with period wear, or with specifically-disclosed repairs. A reattached button, a patched pinhole, or a restitched letter is always called out on the PDP. Throwbacks by Mitchell & Ness and the various licensed remake lines are stated as throwbacks on the PDP; we do not list them as originals. Sizing is period-specific: a 1994 Champion XL does not fit like a 2024 XL, and every jersey carries real flat measurements.

Inventory depth and typical price bands

334 active jerseys on the rack this week. Rough shape by sub-category:

  • 1990s Champion NBA stitched (non-flagship players): typical $60 to $150. Clean late-90s Sonics, Magic, Rockets, Pistons.
  • 1990s Champion NBA stitched (Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, Pippen): materially higher, typically $200 plus on the clean clear-letter examples.
  • Starter NFL and NBA: typical $60 to $150, with authentic NFL pieces and clean 1995-1998 Starter football jerseys sitting higher.
  • Reebok NFL authentic (On Field): typical $60 to $120, with marquee quarterbacks (Brady, Manning, Favre) running higher.
  • Nike NFL On Field: typical $50 to $100 on standard pieces.
  • Mitchell & Ness throwbacks (clearly stated): typical $60 to $150, with high-tier NBA throwbacks running higher.
  • NHL CCM and Koho: typical $40 to $120.
  • Crossover and novelty jerseys (Disney, WWE, NASCAR): typical $40 to $120, with the rarest wrestling-branded football jerseys (D-Generation X, nWo) running higher.

Fresh intake hits the rack weekly. NBA throwback interest spikes around playoff and Finals windows; NFL jerseys move hardest September through January; wrestling-crossover jerseys move hardest in spring around the wrestling-weekend stretch in Vegas.

Start with these pieces

Pair this collection with the NBA sub-case, the NFL sub-case, the MLB sub-case, and the NHL sub-case for league-specific browsing, the full sports umbrella for adjacent team gear, the tees case for the team t-shirts that share the same license windows, and the Starter archive for the broader Starter-made outerwear and jacket side. Try-on happens at the shop inside Container Park on East Fremont.

Questions, answered

Questions about Jerseys

Vintage jerseys are a whole language. Brand tag, stitch method, mesh weave, patch, and cut all point to a specific era and tier. This FAQ is how we grade the wall at Keep It Classic and how we answer the questions Vegas locals and collectors ask us most.

Which jersey brands do you carry, and what do they signal about era?
Our jersey wall moves across five main brands and a few smaller labels. Champion made the officially licensed NBA replicas from roughly 1990 through 1997. Mitchell & Ness runs the Hardwood Classics and Cooperstown Collection reproductions we carry alongside originals, usually late 90s forward. Starter owned the 90s NFL and MLB replica market on the value tier. Nutmeg Mills and Salem Sportswear handled the loud graphic jerseys and tees of the same era. CCM and Koho covered NHL game replicas through the 90s and early 00s. Nike took over NBA licensing in 2017 and NFL in 2012. The brand tag alone can narrow an era down to a five year window.
What is the difference between a replica, a swingman, and an authentic?
Three tiers, three price points. Replica is the entry level: screen printed numbers and letters, lighter mesh, standard fit. Swingman is the middle tier: stitched tackle twill numbers, screen printed name on most runs, slightly heavier mesh. Authentic is on court or on field spec: double layer stitched tackle twill numbers, stitched name, pro cut sleeves, heavier durene or double mesh body. Our listings call out the tier explicitly. If the letters and numbers rub under your thumb, it is a replica. If they have raised felt edges, it is swingman or authentic.
How do I spot a 90s Champion NBA replica versus a reproduction?
Flip the jersey inside out and look at the neck tag and the side seam. Original 90s Champion NBA tags read CHAMPION in block letters with NBA AUTHENTIC or a circle C license stamp, usually on a woven label with a size letter below. Side panel tagging was standard from about 1994 onward. The mesh weave on an original 90s Champion is open and lightweight. Modern reproductions use a tighter knit and a cleaner, crisper screen print. We photograph every tag on every Champion jersey we list. See our authenticity hub for the full walkthrough.
Why are some vintage jerseys blank on the back, and are those legit?
Two real reasons, both legit. First, some replicas were sold blank at retail and the original owner never added a player. Second, team shop jerseys for non superstar roster players were sometimes made as blanks so fans could customize locally. A legit blank back has clean, untouched mesh with no outline, shadow, glue residue, or stitch holes from a removed number. We inspect every blank for ghost marks and flag in the listing if there is any trace of prior lettering.
What counts as acceptable wear on a stitched jersey?
Vintage jerseys earned their creases. Our condition scale runs from Deadstock to Heavily Loved. Light pilling on mesh, a faint smoke of fade on colors, and soft neck ribbing are normal on anything Good or better and are priced accordingly. What we will not ship without calling out in the listing: holes larger than a pencil eraser, loose stitching on numbers or nameplate, cracked or peeling screen print, set in stains, or pit discoloration. Every jersey gets photographed in daylight on a flat surface with any flaw shown close up. Full scale at /pages/condition-scale.
My size is usually a Large. What should I buy in a vintage jersey?
Vintage jerseys run big, especially 90s NBA Champion and 90s NFL Starter cuts. A 90s Champion size 44 often fits like a modern Medium to Large through the chest with a longer body and a generous armhole. NFL Starter XL from the mid 90s wears closer to a modern Large. Every listing shows pit to pit and total length in inches. Those measurements are the source of truth, not the size tag. If a listing is missing measurements, email info@keepitclassiclv.com and we will pull them the same day.
Stitched letters or screen print: which is better?
Neither is universally better. Stitched tackle twill is the authentic spec for most on court and on field jerseys from the 80s forward. It holds up through decades of wash and wear and has resale value collectors recognize. Screen print is the correct spec for replica tier jerseys and for some older styles (late 70s, early 80s). A screen printed 1982 Kansas City Royals replica is era correct; a screen printed 2002 authentic is a fake. Our listings state which method is present and whether it matches the tier claimed.
What is Hardwood Classics, and is a Mitchell & Ness reproduction still vintage?
Hardwood Classics is the NBA license for throwback and retro reissues, held primarily by Mitchell & Ness since 1998 and now also by Nike. A Mitchell & Ness 1996 Bulls jersey made in 2004 is a 20 year old licensed throwback, not a 1996 original. We list both. The listing title and description always distinguish between Original Era (made in the year of the player run) and Throwback or Reissue (a later licensed reproduction). Both have collector value; the premium on originals is real.
How do I date an NHL jersey if there is no year printed?
NHL dating leans on three cues. First, the maker: CCM Maska through the 80s and 90s, CCM alone and Koho into the late 90s and early 00s, Reebok from 2005 to 2017, Adidas 2017 to 2024, Fanatics 2024 forward. Second, the crest and shoulder patches: anniversary, Stanley Cup, Winter Classic, and expansion patches all anchor a season. Third, the cut: the Reebok Edge template launched January 2007 and is visually distinct from prior CCM cuts. Every NHL listing calls out the likely season window with the evidence we used.
Can you help me find a specific team, player, or year?
Yes. Our wall holds roughly 150 to 250 jerseys at any given time across NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, college, and soccer, and not every piece is listed online at once. If you are hunting a specific Jordan year, a Brett Favre Packers throwback, a Wayne Gretzky Oilers, or a Bo Jackson Royals, email info@keepitclassiclv.com or call (702) 605-3332 with the team, player, and year. We will check the floor, the back room, and our network of trusted vintage dealers and send photos the same week.
What is your return policy on jerseys, and how should I handle sizing?
Online orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery for refund to original payment, buyer covers return shipping. In store purchases are exchange or store credit only. Because jerseys run big, we strongly recommend sizing by pit to pit and body length measurements in the listing before you buy. If our measurements are off from what you receive, that is on us: email a photo with a tape measure and we will cover return shipping both ways. Full policy at /policies/refund-policy.
Where can I see vintage jerseys in person in Las Vegas?
Our jersey wall lives at 707 E Fremont Street, Suite 1170, inside Downtown Container Park on the ground floor east side. We hang roughly 150 to 250 jerseys at any given time across NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, college, and soccer, with 90s Champion, Starter, Mitchell and Ness, Nutmeg, Salem, CCM, and Koho pieces rotating weekly. Every jersey is a one of one: once it sells, it is gone. If you are hunting a specific team, player, or year, call (702) 605-3332 or email info@keepitclassiclv.com before you drive down and we will pull candidates to the front.

Every piece in this collection earned its spot through hands-on sourcing, condition grading, and a lot of late nights. We pull from estate sales, dead-stock attics, and the occasional miracle. If it is here, we trust it.
