Collection: NHL
The shop currently stocks 78 vintage NHL pieces, spanning the late-80s Gretzky-Kings era through the Original Six revival of the 90s and into the Y2K Reebok-edge era. CCM and Koho team jerseys, Starter pullovers, snapback hats, warm-up tees, pennants, novelty crossovers, and the occasional rink-side memorabilia piece. Every item is one of one. When it sells, it is gone.
Why vintage NHL is its own market
Hockey vintage runs on different cycles than NBA or NFL. Three forces drive the supply: the Original Six revival of the early 90s that put Bruins, Rangers, Black-and-Gold-era Kings, and Red Wings sweaters on every street in North America; the Mighty Ducks and Sharks expansion era that produced the most graphic-design-heavy logos in pro sports; and the long-tail collector demand from a passionate, geographically concentrated fan base that punches above its size on jerseys-per-fan basis.
NHL also has the densest novelty crossover catalog of any league. Happy Gilmore Boston Bruins-style hockey jerseys, Slap Shot Charlestown Chiefs replicas, the various Mighty Ducks film tie-ins, Wayne Gretzky's Hockey My Way instructional VHS. The shop stocks the crossovers when they cross the door because they sell faster than the straight-team pieces.
The categories on a vintage NHL shelf
CCM Center Ice and Heroes of Hockey. The replica jersey line that defined the 90s NHL retail floor. Heavy crest twill, single-needle stitching, drop-tail cut. CCM is the Champion of hockey: replica grade, but the cultural signal is identical to authentic for street wear.
Koho. Finnish-made jerseys that Reebok eventually absorbed. Generally heavier-weight than CCM and more durable. Koho jerseys from the late 90s are the secret-handshake pickup for collectors who want vintage feel without paying CCM Heroes prices.
Starter and Logo Athletic NHL. The pullover-and-hoodie side of vintage hockey. Starter satin jackets, Logo 7 sweatshirts, Pro Player heavyweight pullovers. These move with the broader 90s vintage market and price independently of jerseys.
Authentic and pro-shop. Less common than the replica run but stocked when found. Equipment-manager tags, fight-strap, double-needle through the crest, locker-cut sizing. Priced accordingly.
Hats, pennants, and memorabilia. Sports Specialties snapbacks from the early 90s, Starter Arch hats, vintage felt pennants, programs and yearbooks, official-licensed pucks. The 1989 St Louis Blues pennant currently on the floor is the kind of piece that shows up once a season.
Novelty and film-tie. Happy Gilmore-style Boston jerseys, generic Charlestown Chiefs Slap Shot reproductions, anything from the Mighty Ducks film canon. Lower price floor, faster turn.
What to check before buying any vintage hockey jersey
Hockey-jersey fakes are less common than NFL or NBA but exist, especially on Original Six and Gretzky-era pieces. The tells:
- Fight-strap presence. Authentic on-ice jerseys have a fight strap inside the back hem, secured with a snap. Replicas almost never do. Fakes claiming to be authentic will sometimes add a sloppy fight strap as a tell.
- Crest construction. CCM and Koho crests are a single embroidered or twill-and-embroidery panel sewn onto the body. The thread direction on real crests is consistent. Counterfeits often show inconsistent thread runs from a cheap bulk-embroidery machine.
- Tag stack. CCM Center Ice carries a CCM main label, a size tag, and a country-of-origin tag. Koho carries Koho-branded labels with Finnish or Canadian origin. Reproductions often print a single combined label.
- Hem construction. Real hockey jerseys have a tail-style hem with side vents. Cheap reproductions cut a flat hem and skip the vents.
- Number font and patch placement. Each team has a published font specification. The 1990s Bruins did not use the modern Bruins number font. A piece claiming to be 90s with a 2010s number font is wrong.
Condition grading on hockey-specific signals
Every NHL piece on the floor is graded on the five-tier ladder. Hockey-specific signals layered on top:
- Crest curl. The big team crest on the chest is the highest-stress panel. Curling at the corners drops the grade.
- Number cracking. Tackle-twill numbers on hockey jerseys see direct contact through skating layers and crack faster than NFL or NBA. Hairline cracks are graded.
- Stick-tape and rink residue. Authentic on-ice jerseys sometimes show stick-tape transfer or rink-glass residue. Disclosed and often valued for provenance, not graded down.
- Felt-pennant specific. Sun-fade on the dye, edge fraying, hanging-cord intact. Pennants grade differently than apparel and the listing reflects it.
- Hat-specific. Brim shape, sweatband condition, top-button intact, sticker on the brim if applicable. Sports Specialties snapbacks with the original sticker are a higher grade than identical hats with the sticker pulled.
What is on the floor right now
The 78-piece count covers a wide spread. Recent pickups include a vintage CCM Las Vegas Wranglers jersey (the AHL-era local-Vegas pickup), a 1989 St Louis Blues felt pennant, a Nashville Predators Fanatics PK Subban jersey, and a Happy Gilmore Boston-style hockey jersey. Volume turns fastest on Original Six and Gretzky-era pieces and slowest on small-market expansion teams.

Sibling collections and category guidance
NHL pairs with the rest of the vintage athletic floor. The full vintage jerseys collection covers every league at once. Vintage accessories includes the Sports Specialties NHL snapback run. Cross-shop the broader sports collection for non-jersey memorabilia. Hockey-specific FAQ on sizing, fight-strap signaling, and shipping lives at the jerseys FAQ page.
Sourcing notes
NHL pickups come through estate buys, hockey-fan walk-in trades, regional sports-collectibles conventions, and the occasional team-shop liquidation. The shop does not stock modern Fanatics retail blanks unless they have a specific story (the PK Subban Predators jersey is on the floor because of the player, not the era). Every authenticity claim on a listing is what the piece is.
The shop is at 707 E Fremont Street, Suite 1170, Las Vegas NV 89101. Ground floor of Downtown Container Park, east side. Walk in, try a sweater on, take it home before someone else does.
