Pro Player's 1999 UConn Huskies NCAA National Champions tee is a licensed commemorative from the exact moment Connecticut basketball announced itself as a program that could no longer be ignored. Navy body, oversized championship ring graphic centered on the chest, foil lettering, the Husky in the stone of the ring. Pro Player held the college basketball championship license through the late 1990s, and this is one of the pieces that defined what their output looked like at the height of their college run.
The 1999 UConn championship is one of the more dramatic in tournament history. The Huskies, coached by Jim Calhoun, finished the season 34-2 and ran through the bracket to beat Duke in the final, 77-74, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Richard Hamilton was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Khalid El-Amin hit the shot that cracked Duke open late. It was a program-defining year, the kind where every photograph from that locker room has weight, and the merchandise that came out of it carries that same charge. Pro Player was producing ring-graphic commemoratives for winners across college basketball through this period, and the UConn version has aged into one of the more sought-after from that run. The foil lettering was a Pro Player signature move at the time, and on the right shirt it still pops clean decades later.
Championship foil that cracked the right way, navy blank that weighs like 1999 should.
This copy has a navy base that should read deep blue, not washed-out gray, meaning the fabric has held its dye. The ring graphic is the thing to inspect on any Pro Player foil tee from this period: the foil can lift or crack at the edges, especially around the ring band where flex stress concentrates. The Husky in the stone is typically the most detailed part of the print. Fits will run on the roomier side, consistent with late-1990s cut standards. Check the foil at the edge of the ring band for any lift before committing.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the specific Pro Player label style, size tag, and the foil condition around the ring graphic edge on the physical garment.
The 90s Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. 90s production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
