Clean Slate VHS
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Clean Slate is the 1994 MGM/UA Home Video VHS release of the Dana Carvey amnesia comedy directed by Mick Jackson. Carvey plays a private detective who wakes up every morning with no memory of the day before, and the film leans hard into the physical comedy that made Carvey a household name off the back of his Saturday Night Live run and Wayne's World. MGM/UA Home Video was the label; the cassette fits the mid-90s MGM/UA retail configuration, black shell, standard clamshell or slipcase depending on the print run.
1994 was a dense year for mid-budget studio comedies, and Clean Slate released into a crowded market. The Mask came out that same summer. Ace Ventura hit earlier in the year. Carvey was at peak mainstream visibility, and MGM was betting on that name recognition to move units. The film didn't own the box office the way those two did, which is part of why physical copies carry collector interest now: the VHS pressing didn't circulate as heavily as the blockbusters, and surviving copies in good shape have thinned out. The sleeve on this copy shows Carvey in a blue blazer alongside Valeria Golino and a small dog, which is about as accurate a visual summary of the film's tone as you could print on a 7-by-4-inch slipcase. There is also a promotional sticker on the sleeve for Big Dogs merchandise, a detail that reads as a pure 1994 time capsule artifact on its own.
A nineties studio comedy that filled Blockbuster endcaps when the A-list titles were checked out.
This copy is in our Las Vegas inventory at Keep It Classic, Container Park, Fremont Street. The sleeve sticker is present and intact, which is the first thing a VHS collector checks on a copy like this because those promotional additions get peeled, scratched, or lost fast. Condition on the sleeve graphics appears solid based on acquisition. The cassette shell should be examined for the label adhesion at the spine and the condition of the tape window, because ribbon slack or visible tape creasing inside that opening is where age shows first on a cassette that has been stored without rewinding.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the 1994 MGM/UA Home Video release label text and catalog number on the cassette spine against the sleeve credit block.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
