Jakks Pacific launched the WWF Legends Series in 1997 to honor the federation's most iconic performers from decades past, and Jimmy Snuka earned the first slot in Series 1. This is not a reissue or a bootleg; this is the original blister card run, complete with the scratch-era WWF logo and the pink-and-black "LEGENDS Series 1" banner in foil gold. The figure stands in a wide muscular pose, tiger-print trunks sculpted in relief, white cloth headband tied around the forehead. The photo card tucked behind the figure shows Snuka mid-flight, arms spread, the moment frozen before impact.
Snuka's career peak was the late 1970s and early 1980s, but his 1983 cage match against Don Muraco at Madison Square Garden cemented his legacy. The Superfly Splash from the top of the fifteen-foot steel cage became the most replayed highlight in WWF VHS history. By the time Jakks Pacific immortalized him in plastic in 1997, Snuka had been out of the main event picture for years, but the Legends line acknowledged that his influence persisted in every high-flyer who followed. This figure is not a toy from Snuka's active run; it is a retrospective tribute released when the WWF was pivoting from the New Generation era into the Attitude Era, looking back at the performers who built the federation's mythos.
The figure that honors the man who taught wrestlers the top rope was a launch pad.
The blister is intact, the card edges are sharp, and the figure has never been removed. Jakks Pacific's Legends line was distributed in limited quantities compared to the flagship wrestler series, and Series 1 figures are now harder to source than later waves. The packaging itself is a time capsule: the scratch WWF logo was phased out in 2002, and the pink-and-black Legends banner design was retired after Series 2. This is not a figure you find in bulk lots or at yard sales. We pulled this from a collection in Henderson where the original owner kept every Legends Series card sealed and stacked flat in archival sleeves.
You display this on a shelf with the other Legends cards or you crack it open and pose Snuka on a ring playset. Either way, you are holding a figure that honors the performer who taught an entire generation of wrestlers that the top rope was not a boundary but a launch pad. The Superfly Splash is a move every wrestling fan knows, and this is the figure that Jakks Pacific produced to make sure no one forgot who invented it.
Attitude Era Archive
WWF's vintage stretch ran hot and strange. Shirts, magazines, and figures came out of a locker-room-to-retail pipeline with zero prestige intent. The ones that made it through are creased, foxed, sun-hit, and still loud. Keeping them intact is the job. We document what survived and photograph it in the condition it arrived in.
