While You Were Sleeping VHS
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
While You Were Sleeping on VHS, released 1995 by Hollywood Pictures and distributed by Buena Vista Home Video, is a Sandra Bullock romantic comedy that hit retail right at the peak of her commercial run before "Speed 2" changed the conversation. The cream-white clamshell sleeve and Previously Viewed sticker are both accounted for on this copy.
1995 was the year Bullock went from action-movie breakout to genuine box-office anchor. "Speed" had closed out 1994 with $350 million worldwide, and Hollywood immediately put her back in production with this one. The setup is a Chicago winter premise: a transit worker pulls an unconscious stranger from the train tracks and gets misidentified as his fiancée by his family. Jon Turteltaub directed, and the film returned roughly $182 million against a $17 million budget, which for a mid-budget romance with no explosions in 1995 was the kind of number studios printed and framed. Buena Vista Home Video moved this into wide VHS retail the same year, part of the Hollywood Pictures home-video pipeline that also handled "The Rock" and "Crimson Tide" releases on tape. Bullock won a Golden Globe nomination for this performance, competing against the field in what was a heavy year for comedies.
Bullock carried 1995 without defusing a single bomb, just pulling fare tokens and lying to a hospital.
This copy is pre-owned. The sleeve shows the classic Buena Vista Previously Viewed sticker format, cream background with the title block and theatrical key art running full-bleed on the front panel. No significant fading visible on the spine. The tape itself should be rewound before play, and any copy sitting in a sleeve this long is worth a quick heads-up pass on playback before you commit it to a display stack. The tape window on the cassette body is the first check: ribbon should sit flat with no slack before you hit play.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm release year printed on the cassette label as 1995 and that the Buena Vista Home Video copyright block matches the Hollywood Pictures theatrical credit.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
