The piece

Mickie & Company made this one, and that name alone is a tell. The Louisville-based outbuilder was the go-to for premium corporate lettermans through the late 1980s and 1990s, handling accounts for Fortune 500 companies that wanted real varsity construction, not novelty fleece. This jacket came out of Microsoft's Exchange team, issued to employees during one of the most contested product cycles in software history. Navy wool body, dark green leather sleeves, full-color Microsoft Exchange logo embroidered on the chest. Size Large.

Microsoft Exchange hit its 1.0 release in 1996 after years of internal competition with Schedule+ and the older Microsoft Mail platform. The Exchange team was building the backbone for enterprise email at a moment when Lotus Notes owned corporate inboxes and Microsoft was fighting for every IT department it could get. These were the years when Redmond was running hard on multiple fronts: Windows 95 had just reset consumer expectations, Office 97 was on the horizon, and the Exchange team had budget to spend on team culture gear because the stakes were real. Employee-issue jackets at this scale were not handed out for participation. They came at product milestones, launch cycles, or internal all-hands events. This one carries the Exchange branding, not the general Microsoft wave, which puts it squarely in the hands of the core team.

Employee swag from the team that built the email platform still running corporate America.

The construction holds up the way Mickie pieces tend to. Snap-front closure, welt pockets, satin lining. The leather sleeves have the weight of actual hide rather than the thinned-out bonded leather that crept into corporate gifting by the early 2000s. The wool body shows the navy true, no significant fading. The embroidered Exchange logo on the chest reads clean at distance, colors still saturated. One of one at this shop, and almost certainly one of a very limited issue. Run your fingers along the seam where the leather sleeve meets the wool body panel and check that the stitching is uniform with no separation pulling at the cuff.

OWNER VERIFY: Confirm production year against any interior date stamp or Mickie & Company label code, and cross-check the Exchange logo version against known 1.0 vs. 5.0 era branding to tighten the issuance window.

This is employee swag from the team that built the email platform still running most of corporate America. Mickie & Company made the jacket, a premium corporate outerwear label, so the construction holds up: snap-front, welt pockets, striped ribbing, satin lining. Wearable '90s tech history, not a polo. Tagged size L, pre-owned, see photos for condition.

I love when Evil Flex shows up in the middle of when I'm talking about Home Alone 2 the board game.
