Vintage 1980s WWF Wrestling Comforter / Sleeping Bag – Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, Junk Yard Dog & The Sheik (broken zipper)
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
WWF-licensed juvenile bedding from the mid-to-late 1980s, and this one checks every box for what that category looked like at its peak. A quilted comforter that converts into a full sleeping bag via a perimeter zipper, printed with Hulk Hogan at the center, Roddy Piper, Junk Yard Dog, and The Sheik filling the surrounding panels. Without the photo in front of us, the exact production year is provisional, but the roster configuration is the tell: that four-name lineup tracks cleanly to the 1984-1987 WWF merchandising window, when all four of those names were active on the main card and moving licensed product at retail. The tag and the stitch will settle the precise date once we have the piece on the floor.
WWF licensing hit a completely different gear after WrestleMania I in March 1985 at Madison Square Garden. By 1986 and 1987, the WWF's merchandise program had expanded into every corner of the juvenile bedding category: sheet sets, pillowcases, sleeping bags, and comforters showing up in Sears, JCPenney, and Kay-Bee Toy outlets across the country. Hulk Hogan was the anchor of every product in that catalog. Roddy Piper, coming off his run as the primary antagonist through the first two WrestleManias, was at his peak recognition. Junk Yard Dog carried a massive babyface following from Mid-South into the WWF national expansion. The Sheik as a character was being used throughout this stretch as a heat-generating presence on the undercard. A comforter featuring all four together would have been a centerpiece SKU in that licensing push, not a peripheral item.
The zipper broke because some kid used it exactly the way WWF intended.
This copy shows its age honestly. The condition situation is straightforward: the perimeter zipper is broken, which means the sleeping bag conversion function is currently out. The comforter function remains, and quilted pieces from this period often held their print color better than the sheet sets did, since the quilting added a layer of protection against repeated washing. Color blocking on pieces like this typically ran a blue ring-scene field against a cream or off-white ground for the character poses. We have not confirmed the color palette on this copy yet. Check the zipper pull housing and the seam around the zipper track, since that area on 1980s sleeping bag comforters is where stress damage from use and washing tends to concentrate first.
OWNER VERIFY: Era / production year: roster configuration suggests 1984–1987, but confirm via care label copyright date or WWF licensing tag sewn into the seam.
OWNER VERIFY: Provenance / label: check the sewn-in tag for the manufacturer name, WWF licensing line, and country of origin to confirm the production source and narrow the year range.
OWNER VERIFY: Condition: inspect the zipper pull, zipper track seam, and surrounding quilting for extent of damage, fabric fraying, or print fade before listing condition grade.

Attitude Era Archive
WWF's 80s stretch ran hot and strange. Shirts, magazines, and figures came out of a locker-room-to-retail pipeline with zero prestige intent. The ones that made it through are creased, foxed, sun-hit, and still loud. Keeping them intact is the job. We document what survived and photograph it in the condition it arrived in.
