VHS Play It To The Bone
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
"Play It to the Bone" on VHS, Buena Vista home video release, 1999. Still sealed in original shrink wrap. This is the Ron Shelton boxing comedy-drama starring Woody Harrelson and Antonio Banderas, two journeymen fighters who take a road trip from LA to Las Vegas after a last-minute card opening drops in their laps. The black-and-white cover art puts both leads in fighting stances. One copy, never opened.
Ron Shelton knew sports movies from the inside. "Bull Durham" in 1988, "White Men Can't Jump" in 1992, "Tin Cup" in 1996. By 1999 he had a track record of athletes as flawed human beings rather than inspirational archetypes, and "Play It to the Bone" fit that mold. The film came out in December 1999, part of a late-year Buena Vista theatrical push, and made its way to home video shortly after. The Vegas backdrop was not just set dressing: the MGM Grand figures into the climax, and Shelton used the drive through the Nevada desert as the real dramatic engine. The supporting cast included Lolita Davidovich, Tom Sizemore, and a string of cameos from actual boxing figures. It did not light up the box office, but the VHS hit shelves at a moment when Harrelson and Banderas were both at a recognizable peak in mainstream visibility. Late-1990s Buena Vista VHS pressing, black clamshell case, standard retail format.
Sealed from the year DVD won but VHS still had a release schedule.
This copy is sealed. The shrink wrap is intact with no tears along the seam edges. The label face shows no sun fade or sticker residue under the plastic. Sealed late-90s Buena Vista tapes in this condition are not common at retail used shelves, and the sealed status here is the whole proposition. If you break the seal to run it, the tape is a player; if you hold it, the shrink seal is the condition story. Before you decide, check the shrink seam along the bottom spine edge for any stress splits or separation that might not be visible face-on.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm sealed status is fully intact on the bottom spine shrink seam before listing condition as factory sealed.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
