"Hard to Kill" on VHS, Warner Bros, 1990. Steven Seagal's second feature, released a year after "Above the Law" put him on the map and the same year "Marked for Death" came out, meaning 1990 was the year Seagal went from name to franchise. The cover delivers: dark leather jacket, ponytail, handgun raised, Kelly LeBrock beside him. That image sold a lot of rentals.
The context matters here. By 1990 the action VHS market was running at full speed. Schwarzenegger had "Total Recall" that summer. Van Damme had "Kickboxer" the year before. Seagal was the newer entry, the one with the aikido background and the quieter menace, and Warner Bros was moving fast to capitalize. "Hard to Kill" gave him the coma-revenge plot that became a template, and it grossed over $47 million theatrically before the tape even hit shelves. The rental market picked up the rest. The Warner Bros VHS pressing is the version that actually circulated in most American households, the one that sat in the genre section next to "Death Wish" and "Road House," and the one collectors are now tracking down in clean condition. This is well before Seagal's output moved to direct-to-video territory in the late 1990s, when the theatrical window closed and the tapes started looking cheaper. This copy is from the theatrical-release pressing.

The tape itself is in collectible range. The clamshell box holds its shape, the cover art shows the print registration that Warner Bros used on their early-1990s action releases, and the cassette shell is the standard WB black with spine labeling. Check the spine label where the title text sits: on genuine Warner Bros 1990 pressings, the font weight is consistent across the full title, no thin-character dropout. Check that label now before you shelve it.
