UFC Young Guns VHS Tape
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
UFC Young Guns is a mid-1990s VHS release on Trimark Home Video, part of the SEG Sports-era wave of UFC compilation tapes that hit retail before the sport had a primetime cable deal or a mainstream vocabulary. Trimark picked up distribution rights during the period when UFC was still operating on pay-per-view gate money and word-of-mouth, and the Young Guns title is exactly what it sounds like: a look at the fighters who were coming up fast inside the Octagon before the names were household.
The UFC that Trimark was packaging for tape shelves was a genuinely different organism from what the sport became after the Fertittas bought the promotion in 2001. SEG ran events at a pace that would feel reckless now, and the roster turnover was constant. The fighters on a tape like this could be early-card competitors who never crossed into PPV main events, or they could be someone who would later define a weight class. That's the actual draw here: before the UFC had a production infrastructure that documented everything, tapes like this were doing the archival work. Trimark's release catalog covered events and highlight cuts that didn't make it onto broadcast, and the black case with yellow block lettering is the visual signature of that whole distribution run. If you were a martial arts fan in a mid-sized American city in 1994 or 1995, this is what the sport looked like in your hands at the video store.

This copy comes in the standard Trimark black clamshell. The tape window is the first thing to check when you pull it off the shelf: ribbon should sit flat with no slack or bunching, which tells you whether it's been rewound correctly and stored under tension. The printed insert behind the case art typically fades along the spine first on these, so check the spine strip color against the face panel for matching saturation. VHS condition on 30-year-old tapes grades on whether the shell is cracked, whether the tape has been played to the end and rewound, and whether the sticker label shows peeling at the corners. Inspect the clamshell hinge before you commit.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the specific UFC event or fighter lineup documented on this tape against the Trimark catalog to pin the release year within the SEG era.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
