Sony PlayStation 3 Strangle Hold in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Stranglehold for PlayStation 3 is the 2007 third-person shooter from Midway Games and John Woo Presents, built as a direct sequel to the 1992 Hong Kong action film "Hard Boiled." The Collector's Edition pairs the game disc with a Blu-ray of "Hard Boiled" itself, making this a two-piece set that spans the original film and its interactive continuation. Inspector Tequila returns, Chow Yun-fat voiced him, and the whole thing was designed as a love letter to woo-era Hong Kong bullet cinema.
2007 was a genuine turning point for PS3 as a gaming platform. The console had launched in November 2006 at $599, and by mid-2007 publishers were still calibrating what the hardware could actually do. Stranglehold was among the early titles built specifically to flex the PS3's processing muscle, with the Tequila Time mechanic using slow-motion physics across fully destructible environments in a way that felt genuinely different from what Xbox 360 shooters were doing at the same moment. Midway positioned the Collector's Edition as the true purchase for the complete Woo picture. Bundling "Hard Boiled" on Blu-ray was a statement about where home video was heading in 2007, with HD disc formats still actively competing and Sony's own format tied directly to the console running the game. The set was never cheap at retail and did not stay on shelves long in complete, sealed condition. A boxed copy in this state is increasingly hard to locate seventeen years out.
The last time a shooter could ship with the film that taught it how to move.
This copy presents in box, which for the Collector's Edition means the outer sleeve, the game case, and the Blu-ray disc should all be accounted for. Condition on PS3 boxes from this period varies considerably. The outer sleeve is typically the first casualty, creasing at the corners or developing shelf fade along the spine. Check the disc trays inside for any cracking at the hub, and verify the "Hard Boiled" Blu-ray is the correct region-coded disc and not a substitute. The outer sleeve spine is where to look first for any print fade or corner separation.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm both the Stranglehold game disc and the "Hard Boiled" Blu-ray disc are present and undamaged, and that the outer Collector's Edition sleeve is included.

The PlayStation Index
Sony's polygon era rebuilt what a console could look like on a shelf. y2k PlayStation releases shipped with jewel cases, foldout manuals, demo discs, and promotional boxes that were treated as disposable at the time. The ones that held on, through moves and attic boxes and thrift bins, land at the shop with the printing still sharp. We list them with the marks honest.
