Sega Saturn Madden 97 in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Madden NFL 97 on Sega Saturn, complete in box. EA Sports had been putting Madden on every viable platform since the early 1990s, and the Saturn version of 97 was one of the quieter entries in that run. Not because it underdelivered, but because the Saturn itself was already in a difficult spot against the PlayStation by the time this disc shipped. The tall CD jewel case is intact here, John Madden pointing off the cover in the way that became as recognizable as the franchise name itself.
By 1996, the NFL licensing wars were settled enough that EA owned the Madden lane outright. Sega was in a rough stretch: the Saturn had launched in North America in May 1995 at $399, which priced it above the PlayStation at launch and never fully recovered in the sales column. Third-party support started thinning by 1996, and EA was one of the few major publishers still shipping Saturn SKUs at retail. That made Saturn pressings of Madden 97 a smaller production than the PlayStation version, and smaller pressings mean fewer copies survived the next decade of garage sales and game store trade-in bins in playable shape. The cover art features Brett Favre off his 1995 MVP season, the year he threw 38 touchdowns and the Packers went 11-5. The roster in the game reflects the NFC's dominance in that stretch of the decade. Run it in franchise mode and the balance is visible immediately.
EA stayed loyal to the Saturn when most publishers had already moved on.
This copy is complete in box, which for a Saturn title means the jewel case, the disc, and the original manual all present. Condition on CIB Saturn games varies hard because the cases were taller and thinner than standard PlayStation cases and cracked along the spine hinge if stored vertically under any pressure. Pull the jewel case open and check the hinge line on both sides. That is where to start on a copy like this.
OWNER VERIFY: Disc, manual, and jewel case all confirmed present and condition graded before sale.

The Sega Era
Sega's 90s catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
