Sega Master System Maze Hunter 3-D in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Maze Hunter 3-D is a boxed, complete-in-box Sega Master System title from 1988, one of fewer than ten games ever produced for the SegaScope 3-D peripheral. The box, cartridge, and 3-D glasses slot fit the standard Master System clamshell format Sega used across the North American library from 1986 onward. Eight games total reached the SegaScope catalog. This one is among them.
The SegaScope system used battery-powered active shutter glasses synced to the Master System's output to alternate visual frames fast enough to simulate depth. Maze Hunter 3-D was built around that hardware requirement: the game's isometric corridors and enemy placement were designed so that without the glasses the layering collapsed. The experience required the peripheral, not optionally but structurally. Sega released the SegaScope line during a period when Nintendo was consolidating the home market through the NES and the Master System was fighting for shelf space in North America. Most of the eight SegaScope titles came out between 1987 and 1989, a tight two-year run. Maze Hunter 3-D, alongside titles like Zaxxon 3-D and Outrun 3-D, represented Sega pushing a genuine technical differentiator. The 3DS would not arrive for another two decades. Stereoscopic home gaming did not get a serious second commercial attempt until the early 2010s, which makes the SegaScope library a real oddity in the lineage.

This copy comes boxed. Look at the box corners first: Master System boxes from this period were cardboard-heavy and corner crush is the main condition variable. A complete copy means box, cartridge, and ideally the Mylar or foam insert if it survived. The SegaScope glasses are a separate accessory and typically turn up sold apart from the game. If glasses are included with this copy, that changes the set significantly. Check the cartridge label for scuffing along the top edge where the clamshell lid rested. The label edge is the first place to show storage wear on a housed cart.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm whether the SegaScope 3-D glasses are included with this copy or sold separately.

The Sega Era
Sega's 80s catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
