The Paramount "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" VHS is the 1989 home release of the trilogy closer, the third Indy film and the one that finally put Sean Connery opposite Harrison Ford as Henry Jones Sr. Paramount pressed this in the golden-sleeve format that became the standard collector presentation for the series, with the painted adventure-film illustration and the red-yellow title treatment across the front.
"The Last Crusade" hit theaters in May 1989 and moved into home video by the end of that year, arriving in rental stores and on retail shelves right alongside the VHS peak. Spielberg and Lucas closed the original run here, and the father-son dynamic between Ford and Connery gave the film a register the first two did not carry. River Phoenix played young Indy in the prologue, John Rhys-Davies and Denholm Elliott returned, and Julian Glover filled the antagonist role with the kind of straight-faced credibility that kept the film grounded. The Knights Templar mythology, the Venetian catacombs, the Berlin book-burning sequence, Petra standing in for the Canyon of the Crescent Moon. Paramount's 1989 home release dropped at the height of VHS format dominance, before laserdisc and then DVD began pulling the serious collector market away from tape. A 1989 Paramount pressing of this title is 37 years old at this point and the surviving copies in good sleeve condition are not getting more common.

The golden sleeve is the primary draw here, and the painted illustration on the front holds up as the definitive visual identity for this film outside of the theatrical one-sheet. Check the tape window when you pull the cassette out of the sleeve. Ribbon should sit flat, no slack, no pooling at the bottom of the housing. Any ribbon slack or visible oxide scatter on the cassette face is worth noting before you commit to a rewind or a play.
