The piece

F-15 Strike Eagle II on Sega Genesis, complete in box, is the 1993 MicroProse port of one of the defining military flight simulators of the PC era. MicroProse built its reputation on exactly this kind of title: dense, technically grounded, genuinely difficult. Sid Meier had his fingerprints all over the studio's output in this period, and Strike Eagle II carried that lineage directly onto the Genesis cartridge. CIB copies with the original box and inserts are harder to find than loose carts, and this one is boxed.

MicroProse in the early 1990s was operating at a different altitude than most console publishers. The PC version of F-15 Strike Eagle II shipped in 1990 and was a legitimate simulation, not an arcade approximation. Players flew real-world theater missions over Libya, the Persian Gulf, and the Middle East, cycling through threat environments with Soviet-bloc hardware dictating the engagement rules. The Genesis port arrived in 1993, stripped down from the PC build to fit the 16-bit hardware, but it kept the multi-theater structure and the underlying commitment to representing actual mission parameters rather than just putting a jet on screen. For a console market where Top Gun on NES had set a low bar, this was a noticeably more serious product. MicroProse would spend the mid-1990s navigating platform ports and acquisitions before the studio's identity blurred considerably, so the early Genesis releases represent the label at a confident moment.

MicroProse brought carrier ops and desert strike packages to anyone with a controller and a CRT.

This copy is complete in box. Box corners, cart condition, and whether the manual and any supplemental inserts are present will determine how this grades out for a collector. The Genesis box construction from this period used a standard tray-and-lid configuration, and the lid spine is the first thing to check for fade or seam separation. Cartridge label should be clean with no peeling at the edges. If a registration card is in the box, it adds to the completeness grade. Check the spine of the box before anything else.

OWNER VERIFY: CIB completeness, confirm manual, registration card, and any inserts are present alongside the cartridge and tray.

SEGA / BLUE RIBBON

The Sega Era

Sega's 90s catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
