PlayStation Shoot Out 97
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
NBA ShootOut '97 is a Sony Computer Entertainment America release for the original PlayStation, published in 1996 with full NBA and NBPA licensing. That combination put real team names, real rosters, and real player likenesses on the court at a time when most developers were still working around one or the other. Jewel case present. One copy on the floor at Container Park.
The 1996–97 NBA season was the backdrop this game was built around. Michael Jordan was in the middle of what became a 72-win Bulls run that ended in a title. Shaquille O'Neal had just arrived in Los Angeles. The league was at its widest reach, and sports game publishers were racing to lock down licenses because players and teams had started to understand what their names were worth on a cartridge spine. SCEA positioned ShootOut as a flagship PlayStation sports title, leaning into the hardware's polygon-pushing strengths at a time when 3D player models were still a genuine selling point. The broadcast-style presentation, the full roster depth, the licensed courts: all of it was calibrated to the mid-cycle PlayStation buyer who wanted a console sports experience that felt closer to television than to a coin-op port. Thirty years on, the game holds as a snapshot of the league at its commercial and competitive peak.
Sony's in-house answer when every sports franchise was racing to prove 3D could handle the speed.
This copy comes with the jewel case intact. The disc itself should be checked for the standard ring wear that accumulated on PlayStation titles stored loose or re-cased multiple times over the decades. The case spine is the first thing to go on these. Look at the hinge posts on the interior tray and confirm the disc seat hasn't cracked away from the spine, which affects how securely the disc travels if you're buying this to play it rather than shelf it. The manual, if present, is the detail that separates a complete copy from a case-only. Run your finger along the inside spine of the case to confirm the manual tuck sits flush.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm 1996 release year and whether the manual is present inside the jewel case.

The PlayStation Index
Sony's polygon era rebuilt what a console could look like on a shelf. 90s PlayStation releases shipped with jewel cases, foldout manuals, demo discs, and promotional boxes that were treated as disposable at the time. The ones that held on, through moves and attic boxes and thrift bins, land at the shop with the printing still sharp. We list them with the marks honest.
