Mr.Magoo VHS
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Disney's live-action "Mr. Magoo" VHS, released in 1997, is a sealed new-old-stock copy of one of the more divisive entries in the studio's mid-90s live-action run. Leslie Nielsen plays Quincy Magoo, the near-blind, obliviously cheerful retiree who stumbles through a jewel-theft plot without ever registering the chaos he causes. This copy is still in the shrink wrap, price sticker on the clamshell, exactly as it sat on a retail shelf in late 1997.
By the time "Mr. Magoo" hit VHS, Disney's live-action division had spent the decade swinging between genuine hits and calculated experiments. "The Mighty Ducks" was 1992, "Blank Check" was 1994, "Heavyweights" was 1995. Nielsen was in a recognizable groove as a comedy lead, riding the decade-long wave of "The Naked Gun" franchise and "Dracula: Dead and Loving It." Magoo was a gamble on that persona meeting a cartoon IP with real nostalgic pull from the original UPA animated shorts. The theatrical release underperformed and drew criticism from advocacy groups concerned about its portrayal of visual impairment, which is part of why this title aged into genuine rarity on the secondary market. Disney VHS releases from this period moved massive quantities, but the sealed survival rate on a title this polarizing is lower than a flagship release. Most copies got opened, rewound a few times, and ended up in a bin. A copy that never left the clamshell is the exception, not the rule, and on a title this contested, that distinction compounds.

This copy has the original shrink wrap intact with no visible tears along the spine edge. The clamshell itself shows no cracking at the hinge points, which is the first thing to check on any VHS case that has sat sealed for close to thirty years. The price sticker sits on the front face of the clamshell with no curl at the corners. The cassette inside has not been played, meaning the tape window should show the ribbon sitting at the feed reel, tightly wound with no slack. That is what you want to see on a sealed NOS copy before you commit.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the release year printed on the clamshell spine reads 1997.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
