Lagoon Cartridge Super Famicom Japan
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Lagoon on Super Famicom is a 1991 action RPG developed by Zoom and published by Kemco, released in Japan before the title made its way west on the SNES later that same year. This is the original Japanese cartridge, which means the shell is the distinctive gray-violet Super Famicom housing rather than the chunkier gray brick North American collectors are used to handling.
Kemco in 1991 was putting out competent, undersold action RPGs at a pace that rarely got credit at the time. Lagoon belongs to a lineage of top-down hack-and-slash RPGs that were trying to compete with the speed and fluidity of Falcom's Ys series, and the comparison was not always kind in contemporary reviews. The combat is real-time and melee-forward, with a fixed camera and tight dungeon corridors that reward patience over button-mashing. The Japanese release predates the localized PAL and NTSC versions, so this cartridge represents the text and presentation as Zoom intended before any regional edits. The Super Famicom hardware had launched just a few months prior, in late 1990, and the library was still light. Kemco shipped Lagoon into that gap, and the title never got the sales volume to become a common pull in Japanese game shops today.
The box art alone justifies shelf space for early 1990s fantasy collectors.
This copy is a standalone cartridge, no box and no manual based on what we have in hand. The shell shows the wear you expect from a cartridge that moved through rental shops or a collector's regular rotation, not a mint-kept display copy. Color on the label is the detail to examine first when you pull it: the Lagoon label runs with a blue-toned fantasy illustration, and any significant fading or peeling along the edge of the label will tell you everything about how this piece was stored. Flip the cartridge over and check the bottom edge pins for corrosion before you drop it into a console.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the 1991 Japanese release cartridge (SHVC-LG) versus any later regional variant by checking the product code molded into the back shell.

The Nintendo Archive
This is part of Nintendo's 90s run, the era that built the shop's back wall. Nintendo shipped cartridges, plush, promotional oddities, and packaging that most buyers threw out on the way to the game. What survived, mostly by accident, ends up here. Every piece is cleaned, photographed, and listed one at a time. Nothing on the archive shelf is a duplicate.
