Big Daddy is the Adam Sandler comedy that showed he could do heart alongside the laughs, a slacker who adopts a kid to impress his girlfriend, then actually falls in love with being a dad. The Sprouse twins as the kid, Jon Stewart in a supporting role, and Sandler finding the sweet spot between his signature absurdity and genuine emotion. The door-step cover with Sandler and the kid captures the film's odd-couple dynamic. One of the biggest comedies of 1999.
