Lee Sport's 1999 Ken Griffey Jr. bio shirt is a single-copy snapshot of the most electric player in baseball at the peak of his Seattle run. The front carries a full-body illustrated Griffey mid-swing, the kind of action graphic Lee Sport was printing across the league in the late 1990s, when player-illustrated tees were the standard retail drop alongside your standard photo-print or wordmark shirt. Lower left corner holds the stat panel: number 24, 6'3", 205 lbs, 10 Years Pro. Mariners compass-rose logo anchors the upper left. Teal lettering runs the right side of the chest.
1999 was Griffey's last full season in Seattle, and the numbers he put up that year still read like a misprint. He hit 48 home runs and drove in 134, the fourth time in five seasons he had cleared 40 with 100-plus RBI. The M's finished third in the AL West at 79-83, which made the off-season noise louder: Griffey had requested a trade, his family was in Florida, and Cincinnati was the preferred destination. The formal deal went through February 2000, which means this shirt went to retail just before the end of the chapter. Lee Sport was deep in the licensed-apparel rotation at this point, producing everything from team-logo crewnecks to player-specific illustrated tees across MLB, NBA, and NFL rosters. The bio format, stat block on the front rather than the back, was one of their signatures in the 1995-through-1999 run.
Last full season before Griffey left Seattle, when every at-bat was still appointment television.
This copy is a Large. The teal color on the lettering and the compass-rose detail reads clean, no significant wash fade visible in the listing. The illustrated swing graphic on the front is the version of Griffey that collectors want, not a photo-print and not a signature, but the hand-drawn action pose that aged better than either. No tag damage is noted. Pull it out and check the cuff seam on the left sleeve, where Lee Sport garments from this period can show early threadbare stress even when the body and print still read strong.
OWNER VERIFY: 1999 retail production date and Lee Sport tag (confirm label text matches expected "Lee Sport / Officially Licensed" with year or copyright line on the tag interior).
The 90s Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. 90s production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
