1998 Lost In Space Promotional Hat
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
New Line Cinema pressed this promotional snapback to support the 1998 "Lost in Space" theatrical release, the big-budget reboot of the classic 1965 CBS series. Black crown, embroidered silver LS monogram on the front panel, orange "LOST IN SPACE" text running beneath it. The construction and finish read trade-show or premiere issue, not retail shelf stock.
New Line was deep into its franchise-building run by 1998, still riding the "Austin Powers" wave and already into pre-production on what would become the early 2000s horror and action slate. "Lost in Space" was the studio's swing at a sci-fi tentpole, directed by Stephen Hopkins and starring William Hurt, Gary Oldman, Matt LeBlanc, and Mimi Rogers. The film arrived in April 1998 with a production budget reported at $80 million and a marketing push to match. Promotional merchandise from that campaign, hats, keychains, press kits, was circulated to theater staff, press screenings, and junket events rather than stocked in stores. Studio promo headwear from the late 1990s almost never made it to general retail, so what exists now are units that scattered into private hands in the months following release. Almost 30 years have passed since this hat was pressed.
Studio promo hats from underperforming films vanish faster than opening-weekend box office totals.
This copy is in the kind of shape you find on a hat that was worn once or twice and then stored rather than daily-driven. The snapback closure is intact. The embroidery on the LS monogram sits raised and clean with no pulled threads visible on casual inspection. Color on the orange lettering shows no significant fade. The bill is stiff with no major creasing on the brim edge. If you are displaying this rather than wearing it, the front panel presents well flat against a mount. Run a thumb along the underside of the brim where the inner ribbon meets the sweatband stitching to confirm no separation there.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm promotional vs. retail distribution origin against any interior label, union bug, or studio copyright stamp present on the inner sweatband or crown seam.

The 90s Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. 90s production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
