XBOX Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is an original Xbox title published by THQ and developed by Eurocom, released in November 2003. The copy here is complete in box, green DVD case intact, and carries what appears to be a new release sticker on the upper right corner of the case. The kind of sticker that suggests this was picked up at or very close to street date and held.
THQ's 2003 catalog was genuinely strong. Sphinx arrived in the same holiday window as WWE SmackDown vs. Raw, and the original Destroy All Humans prototypes were still years off, but THQ was already the publisher willing to greenlight weird mid-budget bets. Eurocom was the UK studio behind a string of licensed action titles, and Sphinx was one of their most ambitious original concepts: a dual-protagonist design where Sphinx handles the combat and traversal while his companion, the Cursed Mummy, works through puzzle sequences that require being lit on fire. Flattened. Possessed. Ancient Egypt rendered in full 3D on Xbox hardware, with mythology sourced from actual Egyptian tradition rather than Hollywood shorthand. It did not chart the way Halo or Fable did, but collectors who played it remember it. The game built a following across Xbox and GameCube, and the IP was revived with a remaster release in 2017, which brought a second wave of people looking for the original box.
No remaster, no re-release, no backward compatibility patch. If you want it, you need the disc.
This copy presents as a kept piece. Complete in box means disc and manual are both accounted for, case included. The new release sticker is a period detail worth preserving if you're displaying it, or peeling cleanly if you're not. Color on the case art is strong, and the green Xbox case format is undamaged at the corners. For condition baseline, check the disc hub: original Xbox discs from 2003 show wear at the hub ring before they show it on the playing surface, and a clean hub is the right indicator to lead with.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm disc, manual, and insert count against the North American retail release contents before listing as complete.
No remaster, no re-release, no backward compatibility patch. If you want it, you need the disc.
