Xbox MLB Slugfest 2003 in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
MLB Slugfest 2003 is a boxed Xbox copy of Midway's arcade baseball series, third entry in the Slugfest run, with Alex Rodriguez on the cover mid-swing in his Texas Rangers uniform. This is not a sports sim. Midway built Slugfest on the same bones as NBA Jam and NFL Blitz: turbo meters, on-field brawls, pitchers throwing fireballs, and a tag mode that let you sub in mid-at-bat. The box is present and the disc is inside.
Midway dropped this in fall 2002 for the 2003 season, right in the window when arcade sports were still fighting for shelf space against the EA simulation wave. Madden and MVP Baseball were pulling the genre toward realism. Midway went the other direction entirely. Slugfest kept the Jam DNA intact: you could charge up your batter, bean the catcher, trigger pyrotechnic pitching, and access hidden teams including a team of robots. A-Rod was the cover athlete at the height of his Rangers tenure, 2001 AL MVP, coming off a season in which he posted 57 home runs. The original Xbox hardware gave the game some room to breathe visually over the PS2 and GameCube ports. This is 2003 arcade baseball at its loudest and most unrepentant.
Midway turned every at-bat into a spectacle with more in common with NBA Jam than MVP Baseball.
This copy comes in the original Xbox case with the full-size cover art intact, A-Rod in that Rangers two-tone visible through the front. The case shows the kind of shelf wear a 20-plus-year-old game box earns honestly. No cracking on the hinge. Disc condition will be the thing to confirm in person. If you run this on a modded Xbox or through an original console, it plays exactly the way Midway intended: loud, dumb, and genuinely fun. Check the back of the case where the spine meets the disc tray hinge. That corner tab is where wear concentrates on original Xbox boxes and will tell you how this one was stored.
OWNER VERIFY: Disc condition and case hinge integrity on inspection.
