This is WWE home video from the final weeks before the pandemic shut the doors on live crowds worldwide, which makes it a strange little time capsule from the last normal-calendar Saudi spectacle before everything changed.
The main event of Super Showdown 2020 is the reason this disc exists in any collection worth the shelf space. Goldberg, at 53 years old, came out of his MMA-fighter retirement mode and beat Bray Wyatt's alter ego, The Fiend, for the Universal Championship in under three minutes. No submission, no extended sequence. A Jackhammer and it was done. The reaction online was immediate and loud, not in a good way for WWE creative, but that kind of heat makes the physical document more interesting, not less. The undercard included Undertaker defeating AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match that was pre-taped and cinematic in presentation, Roman Reigns over King Corbin in a steel cage, and Bayley retaining the SmackDown Women's title over Naomi. Saudi Arabia events in this stretch ran on a separate contract calendar from the main WWE schedule, which meant card construction decisions that did not always track with the ongoing Raw or SmackDown storylines. That friction shows up on this disc.
