Vintage Property Of Wilson Shirt Size XL
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
"Property Of" Wilson athletic tee, size XL, red jersey-style body with gray mesh shoulder panels and bold script lettering across the chest. Wilson Sporting Goods has been putting its name on gym-issue and team-supply apparel since the mid-twentieth century, and the "Property Of" stencil format is one of the most recognizable templates in American athletic wear. The red-and-gray colorblock, the mesh inset construction, and the script logo placement all read as late 1970s through mid-1980s production. This is the kind of shirt that lived in a high school equipment room or a university rec center before it found its way out into the world.
The "Property Of" format has roots in actual institutional gear. Schools, gyms, and regional athletic programs ordered these in bulk from Wilson and similar sporting goods houses throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The idea was function over everything: durable cotton-blend or mesh fabric, a name on the chest so the shirt came back, no frills. What happened is that this design language became its own aesthetic. Rocky training montages, pickup basketball on outdoor courts, wrestling practice rooms. The look moved from utility to identity. By the mid-1980s, the "Property Of" silhouette was being worn outside the gym intentionally, and by the early 1990s, it was being reproduced as fashion. A genuine early example in this colorway and construction, with original Wilson tagging intact, lands in a different conversation than the reproduction runs. The mesh shoulder panel construction and the label type narrow the production window faster than the logo alone.
This copy shows the red-and-gray blocking clearly, XL cut, jersey mesh at the shoulder panels. Fit runs athletic, with the boxy, dropped-shoulder geometry of the era rather than any contemporary slim taper. The script lettering across the chest is the kind of execution you only see on originals from this period: thick, slightly raised ink or twill, not the thin screen print used on later reproductions. Before wear, run a thumb along the inside collar seam and check whether the Wilson label is original chain-stitched or a later replacement.
OWNER VERIFY: Production era confirmed as late 1970s–mid-1980s based on mesh shoulder construction, label type, and Wilson brand formatting.
The Apparel Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. vintage production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
