Big Dogs came out of Santa Barbara in the late 1980s and built the 1990s casual market on exactly this format: bold slogan, oversize cartoon dog, colorblock ground, heavyweight fleece or knit construction. The brand ran gift-shop and resort-channel distribution hard through the early-to-mid 90s, and by 1995 the sweater format was everywhere from Gatlinburg to Reno to the Las Vegas strip. The slogan itself had a life beyond the brand, bumper stickers, coffee mugs, a whole secondary merch ecosystem, but the sweater is the anchor piece. Orange-and-white text on blue is the classic colorway, the one that defined the brand's aesthetic before the palette expanded into the late-90s earth-tone and camo runs. Finding this colorway in a knit sweater construction rather than the more common fleece pullover is the part worth noting.

On this one, run a finger along the cuff seam to confirm ribbing is still bonded to the body panel, that junction is where stress concentrates on worn Big Dogs knit pieces first.
