The piece

Interplay's 1993 ClayFighter arrived on SNES as a claymation fighting game that stopped the genre mid-stride. Visual Concepts digitized stop-motion clay figures into sprites, letting Bad Mr. Frosty and Taffy trade blows with comedic weight no other 16-bit fighter matched. Complete in box with the original Nintendo seal.

Stop-motion clay puppets beating each other senseless on a checkerboard stage, exactly as Interplay intended.
NINTENDO ARCHIVE

The Nintendo Archive

This is part of Nintendo's 90s run, the era that built the shop's back wall. Nintendo shipped cartridges, plush, promotional oddities, and packaging that most buyers threw out on the way to the game. What survived, mostly by accident, ends up here. Every piece is cleaned, photographed, and listed one at a time. Nothing on the archive shelf is a duplicate.

Super Nintendo ClayFighter. With Box. The SNES claymation fighting game. Standard SNES box with a colorful, whimsical design. Clay-animated characters on a black and white checkered floor. Colorful toy blocks and a circus-like setting in the background. "ClayFighter" in large yellow and red playful lettering at the upper left. "ULTRA TURBO & Head to Head Fighting Action" in a yellow splat callout. Interplay logo at the lower right. Licensed by Nintendo. Nintendo seal of quality.

ClayFighter (1993) was one of the most unique fighting games of the 16-bit era. Developed by Visual Concepts and published by Interplay, the game used actual claymation animation (stop-motion clay figures digitized into sprites) to create a fighting game that was equal parts Street Fighter parody and Gumby homage. Characters like Bad Mr. Frosty, Taffy, and the Blob brought a cartoonish, comedic energy to a genre dominated by serious fighters. The claymation technique gave the game a visual style that no other title could match. SNES fighting games with their original boxes are collected by retro gaming enthusiasts. Clay it ain't so.
