Thermos Brand produced this Star Wars lunch box during the Sequel Trilogy rollout, targeting retail shelves through a Target-exclusive run. The black plastic lid carries dark-toned artwork: Stormtroopers, crossed lightsabers, Chewbacca, and BB-8 arranged in the kind of ensemble composition that Thermos and Lucasfilm licensing pushed hard for front-end placement at big-box retail. The "Made in USA" sticker on the clasp is not standard issue on every Thermos run, which makes this copy worth a second look.
The Force Awakens arrived in December 2015 and triggered the largest single-season Star Wars licensing wave since the original trilogy home video boom. Thermos, which had been making licensed metal and plastic lunch boxes since the 1950s, secured Sequel Trilogy rights early and moved significant volume through Target's toy and collectibles aisles in late 2015 and into 2016. That Target-exclusive channel matters for condition tracking: Target runs tended to move fast and get used fast, so finding a copy that has held its lid seal and clasp integrity is harder than the production numbers suggest. BB-8 was everywhere in that period as the breakout new character, and the Stormtrooper redesign under costume designer Michael Kaplan got real promotional push from Disney across every licensed category. This lunch box belongs to that first-wave moment before the market flooded with spin-off product from Rogue One and The Last Jedi.

This copy carries the Target-exclusive branding on the box itself, and the "Made in USA" sticker on the clasp appears intact and unpeeled. Color on the lid artwork reads as unfaded, no significant scuffs visible on the black plastic body. Thermos lunch boxes from this period had a known weak point at the hinge pin connecting lid to base, so open and close the lid slowly before committing. Run your thumb along the hinge seam on both sides before you walk with it.
