Sometimes They Come Back Again VHS Tape
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
"Sometimes They Come Back... Again" on VHS, released in 1996 by Vidmark Entertainment. This is the second entry in the loosely connected "Sometimes They Come Back" trilogy, a Stephen King-adjacent horror line that Vidmark built through the mid-90s on the back of the original 1991 TV movie. Not a King screenplay this time, but sourced from his "Night Shift" short story collection, with a new cast, a new family, and the undead returning to finish something that never got finished. The cover art does the job: pale demonic face, glowing green eyes, a wall of fire rendered in the packaging language that mid-90s horror VHS had perfected.
Vidmark Entertainment was one of the straight-to-video horror labels that owned shelf space at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video from roughly 1990 through the late 90s. They were not making theatrical films. They were making the kind of horror that lived in the back row of the rental section, and they were very good at it. The "Sometimes They Come Back" brand gave them a repeatable property at a time when the video rental market was at its absolute peak. Michael Gross leads this installment, carrying the protagonist weight that Vidmark needed to make the sequel feel legitimate. The original 1991 TV movie had aired on CBS, so there was real name recognition to work with. By 1996, Vidmark had already distributed dozens of horror and thriller titles on VHS, and this was one of the more polished entries in their catalog.
Vidmark knew the lane: weekend night couch horror that delivered on its cover promise.
This copy is in solid shape for a 30-year-old tape. The clamshell casing is the format here, which is correct for a Vidmark mid-90s release. Check the spine label for fade: Vidmark used a high-contrast red-and-white spine design on most of their horror line during this period, and on well-preserved copies the color stays punchy. The tape window on the cassette itself is worth a look. Ribbon should sit flat with no visible slack before you hit play.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm 1996 release year against the copyright date printed on the back panel of the clamshell.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
