Sega Genesis Air Force LHX Attack Chopper in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
LHX Attack Chopper on Sega Genesis is a 1990 Electronic Arts military flight simulation, one of the earliest EA titles to push the Genesis hardware into genuine 3D-wireframe polygon rendering. The box is the original clamshell retail configuration, artwork showing the LHX light helicopter banking hard over dense tree cover, rotor wash implied by the angle. This copy came out of Las Vegas.
EA's early Genesis catalog was doing something nobody else was attempting at the time. While the platform was still proving itself against the Super Nintendo in the console wars, EA was porting their PC simulation library directly across, and LHX was exhibit A. The game modeled four real aircraft, the LHX itself plus the AH-64 Apache, the UH-60 Black Hawk, and the MH-6 Little Bird, with four active combat theaters pulled from real geopolitical tension points of the late Cold War period. The design team at EA built it in 1990 before the Gulf War changed public appetite for military simulation permanently. Desert Storm hit in January 1991 and suddenly every retailer wanted this category on the shelf. LHX had been there first. That context matters when you're looking at what this game was reaching for, which was simulation credibility on consumer hardware, not arcade reflex.

The box is intact, clamshell shell showing age-appropriate shelf patina along the top edge. The cartridge label should show the EA logo in their early-90s blue-on-black format, no sun fading on the label face if storage was clean. Manual check matters here: LHX shipped with a substantial reference booklet covering aircraft specs and mission briefings, and a complete copy is noticeably heavier than a cart-only resale that got a box dropped around it later. Stand the box on a shelf and check the bottom seam of the clamshell for crack stress at the hinge point, which is the first failure on these EA plastic cases after thirty-plus years.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm 1990 EA production year against the copyright line printed on the cartridge label back.

The Sega Era
Sega's 90s catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
