Sega Dreamcast Sega Sports World Series Baseball 2K1 in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
World Series Baseball 2K1 is a Sega Sports title for the Sega Dreamcast, released in 2000, and this copy comes complete in box with case, disc, and manual intact. The cover art is unmistakable: red background, a pitcher in full mid-delivery extension wearing #45 in a Boston Red Sox uniform, almost certainly Pedro Martinez at the peak of his command over opposing lineups.
The Dreamcast was already living on borrowed time by 2000. Sega had announced in January of that year that it was discontinuing the hardware in North America by March 2001, which meant the 2K sports lineup, including this title, was essentially a farewell tour for first-party Sega sports software. The 2K label was doing serious work across that final shelf run: NFL 2K1, NBA 2K1, and this baseball entry all came out in that window, all pushing the hardware harder than most publishers were willing to try with a console that had a sunset date stamped on it. Visual Concepts handled development, and the Dreamcast version of the 2K baseball engine had real texture, better broadcast presentation than most competitors, and an online play mode through SegaNet that most console sports games weren't touching yet. In 2000, that was genuinely ahead of the curve. Pedro on the cover was the right call: his 2000 season produced a 1.74 ERA and 284 strikeouts. You didn't put anybody else on that box.
The last Sega baseball sim, Pedro's untouchable 2000 season, VMU pocket saves before the cloud.
This copy is CIB, meaning the case is present, the disc is inside, and the manual has not walked off. Box condition will show its age, as all Dreamcast GD-ROM jewel cases do after 25 years, and the manual pages may have light yellowing at the edges. The disc is the thing to evaluate closely. Dreamcast discs are GD-ROM format and can show ring wear near the hub without affecting play, but deep radial scratches in the data band are a different story. Pull the disc and check the underside in direct light before you commit, paying close attention to the outer data ring where read errors show up first.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm disc plays without load errors on a functioning Dreamcast unit; GD-ROM hub wear is acceptable but outer ring scratches may cause freezing in late-inning load sequences.

The Sega Era
Sega's y2k catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
