Sega 32x Knuckles Chaotix
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Knuckles' Chaotix on the Sega 32X is one of the rarest cartridges in the entire Sonic universe. Released in 1995 exclusively for the 32X add-on, it is the only mainline Sonic-adjacent title that never appeared on any other Sega platform, making it a hard ceiling for 32X collectors. Black cartridge, purple label. If you want every piece of official Sonic canon on physical media, this one does not have a substitute.
The 32X itself had a brutal shelf life. Sega launched it in November 1994 as a stopgap between the Genesis and the incoming Saturn, and the hardware was effectively discontinued by 1996 after selling somewhere around 800,000 units worldwide. That short production window makes the 32X library genuinely thin: fewer than 40 titles total, most of them ports. Chaotix is the exception. It was built from the ground up for the hardware, using the 32X's additional processing to push a two-character tethered gameplay mechanic where Knuckles and a partner are bound by a rubber-band physics system that no other Sonic game before or since has replicated. This is also the title that introduced Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy Bee into the canon, three characters who would go dormant for almost a decade before resurfacing in "Sonic Heroes" in 2003. The game shipped without Sonic as a playable character, which made it divisive at launch and even more of an oddity in retrospect.
The only classic Sonic Team platformer that never received a reissue or port.
This copy presents as a loose cartridge in played condition. The purple label carries the wear you expect from a piece that is now more than 30 years out from its retail run: some edge scuffing is normal, label adhesion can vary. Check whether the cartridge pins are clean and whether the label shows any peeling at the corners. Those two observations will tell you everything you need to know about how this one was stored.

The Sega Era
Sega's 90s catalogue moved fast and took risks. Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, the arcades that fed them, the merchandise that trailed each launch. The blue-ribbon years produced cartridges, plush, promotional cards, and magazine inserts that rarely made it past the living room floor. What landed here was stored carefully enough to survive two console generations.
