The piece

Rayman Arena on PlayStation 2, complete in box, is a 2002 Ubisoft multiplayer spinoff built under Michel Ancel's creative direction. It pulls characters directly from the Rayman universe. Rayman and Globox headline the roster, with the Teensies filling out the field, all dropped into racing and battle arenas for up to four players. CIB means disc and manual are present alongside the case.

By 2002 the PS2 had already cemented itself as the dominant living-room machine, and Ubisoft was pushing Rayman in multiple directions at once. The mainline platformer had been a PlayStation 1 launch-window standout back in 1995, and Ubisoft used that equity to branch out. Rayman Arena arrived the same year Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc was in development, so this was Ubisoft buying time with a party-game spinoff while the next single-player chapter was being built. The game shipped under different names depending on territory: Rayman M in Europe, Rayman Arena in North America. Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Paris shared development credits. Four-player party games were having a serious moment on PS2 in 2002, with titles like Crash Bash pointing toward living-room multiplayer as a commercial priority. Rayman Arena fit that wave without being a clone of anything.

Ubisoft's sideways bet that Rayman could carry a party game without a single platform.

This copy presents clean. The case should be free of major cracks along the spine hinge, the disc should be clear of deep radial scratches in the data band, and the manual should be fully intact. Not a torn or water-damaged insert pulled from a different copy to make the listing look complete. Four-player racing and battle modes both require a clean read on the disc, so any surface haze matters here. The game runs best with all four controller ports occupied, so if you are picking this up for couch multiplayer, that is the configuration to test first. Check the case spine for stress-whitening at the hinge clips before you commit.

OWNER VERIFY: Confirm disc, manual, and case are original to the same copy and all three are present as described.

SONY / POLYGON ERA

The PlayStation Index

Sony's polygon era rebuilt what a console could look like on a shelf. y2k PlayStation releases shipped with jewel cases, foldout manuals, demo discs, and promotional boxes that were treated as disposable at the time. The ones that held on, through moves and attic boxes and thrift bins, land at the shop with the printing still sharp. We list them with the marks honest.
