Rare 1995 WCW SuperBrawl V VHS – Hulk Hogan vs. Vader (Original Factory Release)

WCW SuperBrawl V on original factory VHS, released in 1995 through Turner Home Entertainment. The tape covers the February 19, 1995 event out of Baltimore Arena, Baltimore, Maryland, headlined by Hulk Hogan defending the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Vader. This is the physical release, not a dub, not a compilation clip tape: original shrink, original label stock, original home video packaging from the Turner distribution pipeline.

SuperBrawl V arrived in a WCW calendar year that was already running hot. Hogan had come over from WWF in mid-1994, and by February 1995 the company was betting the main event on him against one of the most credible monsters WCW had built. Vader, managed by Harley Race, had been positioned as a legitimate threat through a run that included the 1992 and 1993 WCW International World Heavyweight Championship reigns and a reputation for stiff, real-contact work that made his matches feel different from the rest of the card. The full SuperBrawl V card also included Sting vs. Avalanche, Dustin Rhodes and the Blacktop Bully continuing a feud that would produce one of WCW's more unusual match formats, and Savage in the mix during a period when the WCW roster was arguably its deepest since the NWA transition years. Turner Home Entertainment moved these tapes through video rental chains and retail simultaneously, which is why factory-sealed copies are harder to locate now than the rental-worn sleeves: the rental copies got opened and cycled; the retail copies got used and discarded. A copy in NM minus condition with intact spine art is a survivor.

This copy grades NM minus. The case artwork is crisp with no significant fading on the WCW logo or the event title treatment. Spine reads clearly. The tape itself reports no tracking damage from the existing description. There is reportedly bonus Nasty Boys footage included on this release, which was a standard Turner tactic for VHS home video: add exclusive content to pull collectors toward the retail purchase over a pay-per-view re-watch. Before committing on condition, inspect the shell seam along the lower cassette edge for any stress cracking, and check whether the label adhesion has lifted at the corners.
