LA Lakers 86-87 Back to Back Signature Shirt
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
The Lakers ran the 1986-87 NBA season the way a dynasty should: with the whole league knowing it was coming and no one able to stop it anyway. This is an original 1980s tee from that championship run, purple body, gold and white print, roster signatures fanning around the centered Lakers logo with WORLD CHAMPIONS blocked across the bottom. The cotton is heavyweight and the print registration is still clean decades out from the pressing.
Nineteen eighty-seven was the peak of the Showtime engine. Pat Riley had refined the roster into something genuinely rare: a team with the best passing guard in Magic Johnson, the most decorated center in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the best mid-range wing in James Worthy, and enough role depth in Michael Cooper, Byron Scott, and A.C. Green to punish any mismatch the opponent tried to hide. They swept the first round, took the Spurs in five, beat Seattle in five, and closed the Finals against Boston in six. Game 4 of that Finals, the moment Magic hit the junior, junior sky hook over Robert Parish and Kevin McHale to swing the series, is the single image that defines the season. The shirt leans into the collective: every signature printed here is from a player who appeared on that floor. No filler names, no honorary additions, the full working rotation of a 65-win team.
Showtime wasn't just a style of play; it was the way an entire city moved.
This copy shows honest wear consistent with a shirt that has actually been stored and periodically worn rather than sealed since purchase. The purple body has developed that faded plum quality that only comes from real cotton aging under real conditions. Gold ink on the signature block holds without cracking, which tells you something about the print method used. No major distressing visible, no collar blowout from the reference photos. Grab the shirt and flip the collar: the tag stitching at the neckline seam will give you the cleaner read on production date than anything printed on the front.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the 1986-87 championship season attribution against the roster signatures printed on the shirt, cross-checking that Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy all appear.
Showtime wasn't just a style of play; it was the way an entire city moved.
70s / 80s Sportswear
70s and 80s sportswear at the shop is pre-licensing, pre-collab, pre-resell. Single-stitch tees, raglan sleeves, chain-stitched team names, blanks that outlasted the brands printed on them. 80s apparel arrives creased, sun-softened, sometimes repaired by a previous owner. We leave the repairs, note them in the photos, and list each garment against the tag.
