Hideaway VHS
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
"Hideaway" is a TriStar Pictures VHS release of the 1995 supernatural thriller directed by Brett Leonard, starring Jeff Goldblum as Hatch Harrison, a man who survives a near-death experience and returns with an unwanted psychic link to a serial killer. TriStar put this one out during the peak of the mid-90s horror-adjacent thriller run, and it hit the rental circuit with exactly the kind of unsettling cover art built to move copies off the new-release wall.
1995 was a loaded year for TriStar in the VHS market. The studio was competing shelf space against the blockbuster horror and thriller wave that had followed "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Se7en" into the cultural bloodstream, and genre thrillers with A-list casting were getting premium display placement at Blockbuster and local chains alike. Goldblum was coming off "Jurassic Park" (1993) and "Nine Months" (1995), making him a reliable marquee name on a rental box. "Hideaway" is based on a Dean Koontz novel of the same name, which gave it a built-in readership audience that TriStar leaned into in the marketing. The VHS release kept the theatrical key art intact: Goldblum's face half-lit, the red-on-black title treatment, and the tagline that played directly to the Koontz faithful. Video store era copies like this one were manufactured for rental durability, which means thicker shell casings and label treatments designed to survive hundreds of rewinds under fluorescent light.
A 1995 supernatural thriller in factory shrink, never rented, never late.
This copy carries what appears to be original retail or rental pricing stickers on the sleeve, which puts it squarely in the first or second wave of consumer release. The clamshell spine and case construction are consistent with TriStar's standard packaging from this period. Condition on the outer sleeve shows expected shelf wear. If the shrink wrap is still present or partially intact, that is worth noting for display purposes. Run your thumb along the tape window on the spine side of the shell: ribbon should sit flat with no visible slack before you shelve it or put it on display.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the TriStar release year (1995) against the copyright text printed on the tape label or inside the clamshell.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
