1990s Jeff Hamilton Georgia Bulldogs Reversible Jacket – Size Large
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Jeff Hamilton made jackets for champions, and this Georgia Bulldogs reversible is one of the pieces that shows you why. Full leather construction, size Large, dated by tag and build to the 1990s. One side runs black; flip it and you get red. Both sides are working garments, not display pieces, which is the whole point of Hamilton's reversible format.
Hamilton's reputation in the 1990s came from exactly this kind of commission work: major program schools, heavyweight leather, embroidery so dense it held its shape twenty years after the needle left the fabric. Georgia was deep in SEC competition through the decade, working through head coaches Ray Goff (1989–1995) and Jim Donnan (1996–2000) as the program rebuilt toward the Richt years that came next. The Bulldogs wore red between the hedges in Sanford Stadium; the jacket carries both team colors because Hamilton understood that a piece worn in Athens on game day had to flip for the drive home. That black-to-red reversal is not a gimmick. It is a construction decision that doubled the pattern work and the lining investment. Jackets like this were not inexpensive when new, and the schools that ordered them expected a finished product that looked serious on a booster or a player's family member standing at midfield.
Hamilton cut mascots out of eight-ounce cowhide and layered them until the jacket outweighed the player.
This copy carries the full back treatment: a snarling bulldog rendered in appliqué and embroidery, white, red, and black leather panels layered into the design, red G cap, spiked collar detail. The red side shows Georgia red without fade. The black side shows the same bulldog composition in reverse contrast. Condition reads strong for the age: leather is supple, the embroidery is intact, no cracking noted on the panel seams. Size Large on a Hamilton runs fitted through the chest, so measure your chest and shoulders before committing. Inspect the cuff seam on both sleeves where the black and red panels meet the wrist binding, as that joint is where Hamilton reversibles typically show their first stress.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm production decade against the interior Hamilton label, which on 1990s pieces typically carries a style number and a "Made in USA" marker distinct from later import tags.
