2007 Star Trek 40 Years Phaser Gun
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
The 2007 Star Trek 40th Anniversary Phaser is a Paramount-licensed prop replica released to mark four decades of the franchise, built around the Type-2 phaser silhouette from the original series. Working lights, working sound, and a detachable Type-1 mini phaser nested inside the grip. The colorway is TOS-faithful: dark blue and gray, close to what you see in the 1966 production stills, not the brighter plastic interpretations that came later.
Nineteen sixty-six is the baseline here. "The Man Trap" aired September 8, 1966 on NBC, and the franchise that launched that night ran through three seasons, cancellation, fan campaigns, a syndication revival, and then the full theatrical run starting with Robert Wise's 1979 film before it became the institution Paramount was celebrating in 2007. By the time this phaser hit retail, the franchise had logged ten feature films, four live-action successor series, and one animated run. The 40th anniversary collector wave was a real merchandising push: Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum were both active in the Trek replica space at this point, producing museum-quality prop reproductions for the adult collector market that had been building since the 1990s convention circuit. This window box version carries crew portrait artwork on the packaging itself, which puts it squarely in the commemorative tier rather than the play-line tier. The box is part of the artifact.
The Type-2 phaser is the visual anchor of Starfleet's aesthetic, the piece that sold aspiration.
This copy is one-of-one in our inventory, and condition on these mid-2000s prop replicas varies hard depending on how the electronics were stored. The sound and light functions are the first thing to go on shelf-kept pieces if the batteries were left in. If the batteries have been out and the piece has been kept dry, the circuitry usually holds. The detachable Type-1 mini phaser seats into the grip housing with a friction fit, and that joint loosens on pieces that have been handled. Check the grip housing seam where the Type-1 docks for any flex or separation before you commit to display configuration.
OWNER VERIFY: Production year confirmed as 2007 anniversary release, not an earlier or later phaser variant from the same mold family.
