It is a coin bank build, meaning the chassis is sealed and weighted for display rather than running, with a slot cast into the body and a release mechanism underneath. The AC Delco livery is the black-and-gold scheme Earnhardt ran on the Japanese exhibition circuit, not the familiar Goodwrench silver of his Cup car, which makes this one of the more distinct paint schemes in any Earnhardt diecast collection.
The Suzuka races were a genuine moment in NASCAR's international push during the mid-to-late 1990s. The series ran exhibition events at Suzuka in 1996 and 1998, with the 1997 edition falling between those two confirmed dates. Action Racing had the NASCAR license locked down by this point and was producing bank-style collectibles at a pace that matched collector demand, with the 1/24 scale becoming the standard for serious shelf displays. Earnhardt at this time was in the back half of his Goodwrench run at RCR, still drawing the heaviest pull in diecast sales of any driver in the hobby.
