This is a Starter-brand cotton tee printed to commemorate the Chicago Bulls' fifth NBA championship, won in June 1997 over the Utah Jazz in six games. The front carries a circular roster print showing the full squad in white home jerseys, with all five championship years, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, running around the ring. Starter sleeve hit on the left arm. XL cut, made for the retail wave that followed the final buzzer.
Nineteen ninety-seven was the last time that exact group was all together. The '97 Finals ended in Salt Lake City on June 13th, Jordan dropping 39 in Game 6 to close out the Jazz. That was the Flu Game lineup: Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Longley, Harper, Kukoc, Kerr, Buechler. Two rings in a row, five total, Phil Jackson's triangle at full operational height. Starter held the NBA license through this whole run and flooded retail with tees, jackets, and sideline gear immediately after each title. The five-ring shirts in particular moved fast in the summer of '97 because nobody knew yet that the dynasty was one year from dissolving. Phil would leave. Rodman would leave. The core that won six in eight years was about to split, which makes the five-ring commemoration print the last optimistic snapshot, not the retrospective one.
Starter printed this while the confetti was still on the United Center floor.
This copy is in solid vintage condition for a 27-year-old cotton tee. The circular roster print is intact, color reads clean, no major cracking across the lettering. Starter's left-sleeve hit is present and legible. The tag and the body cut will tell you whether this ran as a heavyweight 100% cotton blank or the slightly thinner mid-weight Starter used on some of the '96 and '97 runs. At XL this wears roomy on most modern frames, true to the oversized proportions that defined retail sportswear in that window. Check the collar rib seam for any stretch or splitting before you commit.
OWNER VERIFY: Championship year count (five rings, 1991/92/93/96/97) and roster print accuracy against the confirmed 1997 Finals roster.
The 90s Rack
The 90s rack is where most of the shop's apparel lives. Team tees, tour shirts, promotional jackets, wrestling pullovers, movie tie-in prints that nobody saved on purpose. 90s production runs were large and the survivors are the ones that dodged the rag bin. Each garment is measured flat, photographed on a neutral ground, and listed against the tag size.
