VHS Little House On The Praire
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
This two-episode VHS release pulls from the original NBC run of "Little House on the Prairie," the Michael Landon-produced drama that aired from 1974 through 1983 and rewrote what a family serial could do in prime time. The clamshell case is the giveaway for home video releases from the mid-to-late 1980s distribution wave, when MCA Home Video and similar labels moved through the catalog systematically, pairing episodes into budget-friendly double features for the growing VHS market.
"Little House" was already a cultural institution by the time the home video runs began. Landon wore three hats on the show: actor, writer, director. The result was a production with unusual creative coherence for a network drama running nine seasons. The two episodes on this tape, "A Matter of Faith" and "The Gift," are mid-run stories that lean into the domestic and moral terrain the show owned completely at its peak. By the early 1980s, the show was closing out its run against a television landscape that had shifted hard toward urban drama and cop procedurals, which made Walnut Grove feel even more deliberate as a choice. The decision to keep producing it, and then to release it systematically on VHS, reflected how deep the loyal viewership ran. Families who watched it on air went back and bought the tapes.
Pastoral drama that made frontier morality feel like inherited memory, even if you never touched a plow.
The clamshell on this copy centers Landon in his signature open-collar work shirt and hat against pastoral warm-tone imagery, the kind of cover art the home video period used to establish genre before a buyer could preview a single frame. Gold serif lettering frames the episode titles along the bottom third. The case shows standard shelf wear for a tape that spent time in a home collection, which is expected and not a mark against it. Before you commit, flip the case to the spine and check the hinge seam. Clamshells from this period crack along the right edge where the two halves meet, and a clean seam here means the case has been handled gently.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the home video label and release year from the spine or cassette imprint, as the production date narrows whether this is a late-1980s or early-1990s pressing.

The Rental Counter
Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 70s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.
