THE PIECE

Buena Vista Home Entertainment pressed "The 6th Man" in 1997, and this copy has never been cracked. Factory sealed, shrink still fully intact, no splits at the seams, no peeling corners. A Marlon Wayans and Kadeem Hardison basketball comedy that went straight from the shelf to wherever this tape has been sitting for the better part of three decades, and it shows.

The film came out in the spring of 1997, right in the middle of a stretch when live-action sports comedies were pulling real theatrical numbers. "Space Jam" had just done its thing the previous fall. Disney and Buena Vista were leaning into the lane, backing projects built around a hook that worked on a poster: a ghost helps his brother win college basketball games. Wayans was at a career high-water mark, riding the Wayans family's run through the mid-to-late nineties on both the comedic and action side. Hardison came off years of "A Different World" and was moving into film work with real momentum. The VHS release followed the standard Buena Vista retail pattern of the period: clamshell case, full-color printed label on the cassette itself, catalog number on the spine. Home video was still the primary revenue window after theatrical, and Buena Vista pressed enough units to stock mid-size rental chains as well as retail, but sealed copies three decades out are not common.

Shrink wrap intact since the Clinton administration, never touched by a rewind cycle.

This one is sealed. The shrink wrap has no tape repairs, no amateur re-wrapping, no splits along the cassette tray opening. The label faces clean. If you are adding this to a sealed VHS run or just want the wall presence of an untouched nineties clamshell, this is the copy. Run your thumb along the shrink seam at the bottom edge before you commit: the seal should sit flat with no lifting along the cardboard base.

OWNER VERIFY: Confirm the Buena Vista catalog number on the spine matches the 1997 theatrical release pressing, not a later reissue.

VHS / RENTAL COUNTER

The Rental Counter

Before streaming flattened the difference between movies, VHS was a physical act. Rentals, buybacks, Blockbuster sleeves, promo tapes, ex-rentals with security stickers still on the side. 90s tapes outlived the stores they came from. We keep them in their original cases where possible and note every sticker, sun-fade, and sleeve crease in the photography.

This the 6th man vhs sealed originates from the 90s era[01], represents Buena Vista[02]'s output, . Each piece in the shop is a single unit, inspected by hand in Las Vegas before listing. The data manifest to the right records the fields on file for this lot; where a field is empty it has been omitted rather than guessed.

Still sealed, still perfect. The 6th Man (1997) starring Marlon Wayans and Kadeem Hardison hits different when you pull it off the shelf in factory wrap. College basketball, brotherly loyalty, and some genuine early-Wayans comedy locked inside a tape that never saw the inside of a VCR. Add it to the collection or crack it open. Either way, this one earns its spot.
