Sony PS2 Madden 2004 in Box
1 OF 1 · NO RESTOCK
Madden NFL 2004 for PlayStation 2, complete in box. EA Sports was deep in its commercial peak at this point, and the 2004 edition is the one collectors keep coming back to for one reason: Michael Vick. His 95 speed rating in this game was not hyperbole. It was a legitimate exploit. Pick Atlanta in any lobby and you already had the psychological edge before the first snap.
EA dropped Madden NFL 2004 in August 2003 with two headline additions that changed how the game played. Playmaker controls gave you pre-snap option adjustments that actually worked, and Owner Mode let you run the franchise from the balance sheet down. The cover was Vick at full sprint, which told you exactly what the design team was prioritizing. On the field, the Atlanta offense in CPU hands was already a problem. In human hands, with even moderate familiarity, it was a closed argument. That year the NFL was still running West Coast systems and pocket passers as the default template. Vick's real-world 2002 and 2003 seasons had already started bending that, and EA leaned into it hard. The 2004 edition is the artifact where that reality and the simulation converged, which is why it shows up in "greatest sports game of all time" threads thirty-plus years later and still holds the argument.
The Madden that made every third down a scramble drill and Atlanta the lobby's most-picked team.
This copy is complete in box, meaning the disc, the case, and the original manual are all present. PS2 CIB copies in this condition are not as common as they were even five years ago. The black Greatest Hits label or the original red-label version will tell you at a glance which print run you're holding, and both have real collector value, just different ceilings. Manual pages show the game's full control scheme and roster notes as they shipped. Inspect the disc tray hub and the inner ring of the disc before you power it up.
OWNER VERIFY: Confirm label variant (original red-label vs. Greatest Hits black-label) and disc surface condition before listing claim on print run.

The PlayStation Index
Sony's polygon era rebuilt what a console could look like on a shelf. y2k PlayStation releases shipped with jewel cases, foldout manuals, demo discs, and promotional boxes that were treated as disposable at the time. The ones that held on, through moves and attic boxes and thrift bins, land at the shop with the printing still sharp. We list them with the marks honest.
