2K12 arrived in October 2011 at the height of the NBA lockout, which made the timing genuinely strange. No real games were happening. The season was in dispute. The league's future felt uncertain in ways it hadn't in years. 2K's answer was to load the game with all-time rosters and launch Greatest mode, a fully playable historical gauntlet built around 15 all-time legends with their actual squads. You could run the 1985-86 Celtics. You could run the 1991-92 Bulls. You could put Bird on the floor against Jordan and let the argument settle itself in-game. It was the most ambitious content scope the franchise had attempted to that point, and the timing was not coincidental. When the real league went dark, 2K became the only basketball on. The game sold accordingly. That cover strategy, three legends, three distinct SKUs, was a marketing move that also turned into a minor collectibility angle. All three are around, but you don't always find them sorted by athlete.

This copy is pre-owned and comes in its standard Blu-ray case. No loose disc rattling around in a generic sleeve. No cracked hinge.
