Ray | Keep It Classic
Co-owner of Keep It Classic. Vintage subject-matter expert, with a wrestling and sports-memorabilia focus. Photographer of record for the shop catalog. You will find him on the floor at Downtown Container Park most days.
What Ray handles
Ray co-owns Keep It Classic with Lars. Day to day, his work splits across three lanes:
- Authentication and era-placement on wrestling and sports. When a Starter jacket, a WCW tee, a Coogi, or a piece of WWF ring-worn merch comes through the door, Ray is the one calling the tag era, the print window, and whether the item is original, reprint, or something in between. That call determines how the piece is listed and graded.
- Catalog photography. Ray shoots most of the shop's product photography. The lookbook-style covers on flagship drops and the standard in-catalog pack shots both run through his camera.
- Shop-floor curation. What goes on the rack, what goes into a drop, what gets held for a specific event (WrestleCon, Austin 3:16 Day, Versus Pro shows). That sequencing is Ray's.
Where the expertise sits
Ray's depth is concentrated in a few specific places. We call these out rather than make a general "vintage expert" claim, because specificity is the point.
- Pre-2002 WWF ("F-is-silent") merch. The three-letter WWF era, including Attitude Era tees and programs, ringside-sold merch, the Coliseum Home Video VHS catalog. He can tell you a 1998 scratch-mark logo variant from a 2001-2002 transitional piece without a reference photo.
- WCW and NWA merch. Tag variants, print runs, the difference between on-site event merch and retail tour merch.
- Vintage jerseys. Starter NBA, Champion NFL, Mitchell & Ness. Era markers on the tag, embroidery vs. twill vs. heat-seal construction, and what the grade should be for each.
- Starter jackets. The tag evolution from the 80s through the 90s Proline era, satin vs. cotton construction, registered-trademark position as a fake-spotter.
- Product photography. How the piece is lit and framed on the site is a call about what the buyer needs to see. The Ray rule: shoot the tag, shoot the hem, shoot the flaw. No staged backgrounds that hide condition.
Evidence of tenure
- Keep It Classic opened its Container Park storefront in 2023. Ray has been sourcing vintage for over a decade; the shop brought that expertise to Fremont Street.
- Ray is the face most repeat customers recognize from the shop floor. He is credited as
@rayfresh_on the shop's Instagram on wrestling picks, curation calls, and photography sign-offs. - Ray co-hosts the "Top 10 Favorite" Instagram series with Marissa. Seven episodes published through late 2024 and early 2025 covering wrestling shirts, in-store items, and holiday picks.
- Acquisitions credits on the shop IG include WrestleCon pickups and private collection buys sourced through in-network dealer contacts.
What Ray writes and calls
On the site, Ray is cited as the author on:
- Wrestling authenticity guides (pre-2002 WWF tees, WCW/NWA tees, ring-worn provenance notes).
- Wrestling-category PDPs where an authentication call or era-placement note drives the copy.
- Journal entries tagged "wrestling" and "sports memorabilia."
- "Top 10 Favorite" Instagram series archive entries as they are backfilled to the journal.
When an Article schema or Product authenticity note names an author on this site, Ray's Person entity is the canonical reference for wrestling, sports jerseys, and photography content.
In Ray's own words
These are pulled from the shop Instagram corpus, where the voice is his:
- On curation (November 2024): "Top 10 favorite items in the store, and yes, this is his real voice."
- On hospitality (November 2024): "Open 11:30 to 9:00pm today. [We] will be waiting for 🫵."
- On photography credits (December 2024, Versus Pro recap): "Check out these frames from SLAY. 📸 @rayfresh_."
If you want to hear the voice rather than read it, the Instagram account is where the primary record lives.
