WWF Steel Cage Challenge for the NES: Still Unbeatable

WWF Steel Cage Challenge for the NES: Still Unbeatable

WWF Steel Cage Challenge for the NES. The cart is a time capsule.

Released in 1992. Developed by Rare on contract. Took the core engine from WWF WrestleMania Challenge and bolted on the steel cage match as the match type. The roster was built around the very late-golden-era WWF: Hogan, Warrior, Savage, The Legion of Doom, Ted DiBiase, Mr. Perfect, and a handful of undercard additions.

Why we like the cart

It is not a great wrestling game. Nobody would tell you it is. But as a NES-era historical document, it captures the exact moment the WWF was shifting from the cartoon character push toward the more serious New Generation era. The character select screen is basically a photograph of the late 80s roster.

For collectors: loose carts are affordable and easy to find. Boxed carts are harder, especially clean ones with the manual intact. Sealed copies are rare and climbing slowly at auction.

Come flip one

We almost always have a loose copy on the shelf. Occasionally boxed. If you have a clean CRT, an NES, and an afternoon to kill, this is the one to grab. Flex ran gameplay on the feed if you want to see it move before buying.
