Vintage El Cortez Denim Jacket: A Downtown Vegas Artifact
Share
A vintage El Cortez denim jacket just landed. Size large. $50. The embroidered logo is clean, the denim weight is right for the era, and the back panel has not been touched.
The El Cortez, briefly
The El Cortez is the oldest continuously operating hotel and casino in Las Vegas. Opened in 1941. Still standing at Sixth and Fremont. A couple of blocks from our front door.
If you have walked past it on the way to the Arts District or gone in for the 24-hour coffee shop, you know. The neon sign hits different late at night. The inside has been restored carefully instead of modernized into anonymity.
Why this jacket matters
Promotional hotel jackets from downtown Vegas casinos are a real subcategory. The El Cortez, the Four Queens, the Golden Nugget, the Horseshoe. Most of them were cut in small numbers for staff, events, or high-roller runs. A clean denim one in a wearable size is not a piece you find every month.
If you love Downtown and want a one-piece artifact of the strip that made the Strip possible, this is the one. In the case now.
