Versus Pro and ComptonMania at Container Park: The Re-Grand Opening Card

If you came to the shop for the Re-Grand Opening weekend, you heard the ring before you saw it.

Versus Pro Wrestling and ComptonMania split the card in the Container Park courtyard. Two promotions, one weekend, one booth running vintage tees and wrestling figures out the front door all afternoon.

How the card ran

The bell times were staggered so the crowd could float in and out of the shop. We kept the door propped. We kept cold water and cold soda on the counter. Wrestlers cycled through the back between matches to change and catch their breath.

The courtyard got loud fast. ComptonMania brings a different energy than Versus Pro, which is part of the point of putting them on the same card. Two styles. One crowd. Kids in the front, adults in the back, Container Park regulars three deep at the railing.

Why we keep doing this

The shop carries wrestling gear because the shop loves wrestling. The easiest way to prove that to new customers is to hold wrestling at the front door. If you can buy a WWF 1987 Hulk Hogan tee inside the store and then walk twenty feet and watch an indie tag-team match in the courtyard, that is the whole pitch.
