Happy Birthday, Marissa: The Backbone of the Shop

Today is Marissa's birthday, and the shop would not be the shop without her.

If you have been in on a busy weekend, odds are Marissa rang you up, found your size on the back rack, answered your question about the jersey you almost bought last month, and remembered your name if you mentioned it once in passing. That is not a skill you can hire for. She just has it.

She also runs point on styling. If you see a photo on our feed of a piece worn by a person, she probably pulled the fit and decided what was getting shot first. The 1998 Hello Kitty backpack series. The Minneapolis Lakers satin jacket run. The Charlie Brown Christmas fit. All her eye.

Why this matters

Vintage shops are built on people who care. Inventory is the easy part. The hard part is the return customers, the kid who came in once and got remembered, the wrestler who walks in and gets a hug and a rec all at once. That work does not scale unless somebody chooses to do it. Marissa chose to do it.
